The dream of a different life: Abbas Kiarostami and Chris Marker tell of escape and falling in love.

Iran at the beginning of the 1970s: A 14-year-old boy works and sleeps in a photo studio, where he has to take care of all kinds of tasks. When he falls in love with a girl from a posh neighborhood, he hopes to find work there as a servant. After several short films, Abbas Kiarostami made his feature debut with ›The Experience‹, an exceptionally touching portrait that anticipates many aspects of his later masterpieces.
The future: After the Third World War, large parts of Earth are devastated and the survivors have taken refuge in catacombs. There they experiment with time travel. Chris Marker's ›La Jetée‹ is one of the most influential science fiction films of all time, told exclusively in black and white photographs. Awarded a Filmdukat in 1963.
