A charming charlatan is supposedly able to contact the dead. But suddenly he’s involved in a death himself. An atmospherically dense thriller and a portrait of a Parisian neighborhood.

Ramses, played by rising star Karim Leklou, has set up a business for himself in the Goutte d’Or district of Paris that is as dishonest as it is lucrative. A con man and supposed medium, the dead seem to speak through him to their bereaved families. One day, however, he is approached by a group of teenagers looking for their missing friend. As a result, Ramses’ daily life gradually breaks down and he is forced to confront his true nature. The crime plot brings him into frighteningly real contact with a dead man. In the background, always present: the people of a little-known district of Paris, their relationships and their hardships. Here’s a film whose tension derives precisely from the unusual calm. A film charged with electricity: no place is safe, the boundaries between the private and the public are dangerously permeable, and the night reigns even in bright daylight.
