Disco beats and raining glitter. The drag queen Simon is caught in a whirlwind of emotions – breathless and stirring!

Simon is a rising star in Montreal’s glittering drag queen scene. When Oliver joins his show’s ensemble, there is an instant spark. Although Simon believes that he is living an electrifying love story, a toxic dynamic soon develops between the two young men. Then all of a sudden Simon’s mother Claire, an opera singer, returns home after a 15-year absence. Simon hardly knows her, but he is fascinated by this woman. He is determined to form a relationship with her.

Always authentic and engaging, Sophie Dupuis takes us into an exhilerating, glamorous world and reveals that a lonely abyss can exist between the audience’s applause and the backstage.

Sophie Dupuis is an emerging Canadian filmmaker known for ›Chien de garde‹, Canada’s 2017 Oscar entry, and ›Souterrain‹ (2019). ›Solo‹ is her third feature and it’s a firework! Théodore Pellerin, who has starred in all her films to date, shines in the lead role.
