Ever since early childhood, Sarah (Eva Green) has strived to become an astronaut. When, finally, she learns that she’s been picked for a mission on the ISS, she is thrilled at first. But then the realization strikes her: she’ll have to part with her young daughter for an entire year. The physical strains of her preparation are minor compared to this psychological challenge. And Sarah is the only woman on the mission, whose captain, Mike (Matt Dillon), takes every opportunity to let her understand that he would prefer replacing her with a male colleague.

Alice Winocour tells this story with intense feeling, attention to detail, and great empathy for her protagonists. In doing so, she raises fundamental questions about the modern human condition and the compatibility of family and career.
