A revenge story of almost biblical proportions. - Ultraviolent. Stylized. Unique. Unforgettable!

Refn and Gosling followed up their worldwide success ›Drive‹ with another masterpiece, ›Only God Forgives‹. This time, it’s set in the Bangkok drug scene. Julian (Gosling), the owner of a kickboxing gym, must avenge the death of his brother. His mother, Crystal (Kristin Scott Thomas), is pulling the strings; she has come from the US specifically to attend to the revenge and control the drug business. - Violence is aestheticized in this film even more radically than in ›Drive‹. Every shot is like a painting. A soundtrack alternating between propulsive beats and string sounds accompanies this bloody audiovisual work of art which stands completely alone in its time.

Director

Nicolas Winding Refn is one of the defining filmmakers of our time. After the sensational success of the 'Pusher' trilogy and the arthouse hits 'Bronson' and 'Valhalla Rising', he won the directing prize in Cannes with 'Drive' and was subsequently nominated for the Palme d'Or with 'Only God Forgives' and 'The Neon Demon'. Most recently, he made a splash with the Netflix series 'Copenhagen Cowboy'.
