Accessibility of the IFFMH

We cordially invite all people to visit the International Festival Mannheim-Heidelberg. That is why the IFFMH has set out to create access to the festival that is as barrier-free as possible.

German Sign Language

For the following events we offer a translation into German Sign Language:

  • The Opening Night—our kick-off evening on November 5th—and the Award Ceremony, where the winners will be announced, on November 12th.

SDH Subtitles:


Opening Night (and all subsequent screenings of >My Notes on Mars<), >Chili Finger<, >Cotton Fever<, >In Memoriam<, >Union County<.

German/English subtitles: All films screened at our festival are available with both German and English subtitles (exception: German films are shown only with English subtitles, and English films only with German subtitles).

For foreign-language films in the JUNGE FILMFEST (Youth Film Festival) program, we provide live German voice-over; for films with an age recommendation of 10 years and older, the original-language version is shown with German subtitles.

Venues

Cineplex Kino Mannheim

  • The Cineplex cinema (auditoriums 10 & 3) offers accessible entry and includes an accessible restroom. The cinema levels are connected by a wheelchair-accessible elevator; please contact the cinema staff for assistance. Each auditorium has 2–3 wheelchair spaces available in the back row.

Cinema Quadrat Mannheim

  • Cinema Quadrat offers accessible entry and features an accessible restroom. The cinema can be reached via a wheelchair-accessible elevator. There are 4 wheelchair spaces available in the front row.

Stadthaus N1 + Festival-Lounge Mannheim

  • can provide accessible entry. The restroom is accessible; a Euro-key is required for access. An accompanying person is needed to use the elevator. There are 4 wheelchair spaces available in the front row of the cinema hall.

Planken Lichtspiele Mannheim

  • It offers accessible entry and includes an accessible restroom. The cinema can be reached from the ground floor to the first floor via a wheelchair-accessible elevator. From there, another elevator provides access to all levels of the cinema and to every screening hall. Two wheelchair spaces are available in the second row.

LUXOR-Filmpalast Heidelberg (Crown)

  • It offers accessible entry and includes an accessible restroom. The cinema levels are connected by elevators. There are 2 wheelchair spaces available in the front row (up to 4 additional spaces can be provided in the front row upon request).

Gloria Kino

  • offers a largely accessible entrance to the cinema auditorium, but does not have an accessible restroom. There are 3 wheelchair spaces available in the aisle area on the right-hand side.

Karlstorbahnhof und Karlstorkino + Festival-Lounge Heidelberg

  • feature barrier-free access and an accessible restroom.
  • In both cinema halls, 8–10 spaces suitable for wheelchairs can be provided: in the front row at the Karlstorkino, and along the sides as well as in the back row in the KTB’s main auditorium (Großer Saal).

Additional accessibility measures are being added on an ongoing basis. We are aware that we cannot yet cater to every accessibility need. Please feel free to share your requests with us as we continue this process.
