Trine Dyrholm – our guest of honour for 2026!
We are honouring the renowned Danish actress with the HOMAGE
This year, we are honouring the renowned Danish actress Trine Dyrholm with the HOMAGE. As part of the HOMAGE, three key works from Dyrholm’s filmography will be screened once again on the big screen: the romantic drama *The Dance* (2008) by Pernille Fischer Christensen, Thomas Vinterberg’s *The Commune* (2016) and *Queen* (2019) by May el-Toukhy. ‘The Dance’ will be screened on 6 November as part of the tribute ceremony at 7 pm at the Planken Lichtspiele in Mannheim. The masterclass will take place on 7 November at 3.30 pm in the festival lounge at the Karlstorbahnhof in Heidelberg. A ticket is required for the film screenings; the masterclass is free of charge.
Festival director Sascha Keilholz: “Trine Dyrholm is one of the outstanding actresses of contemporary European cinema. With great intensity, extraordinary versatility and impressive emotional depth, she imbues her characters with an unmistakable presence. Whether in quiet moments or in powerful, radical roles – she approaches every character with courage, precision and remarkable authenticity. We are honouring Trine Dyrholm with the HOMMAGE because she has shaped European cinema for decades and, like hardly any other actress, embodies the artistic freedom and versatility that we celebrate as a festival.”
