A radical portrait: the costumes and self-confident movements of the matador Roca Rey, the bull's run-up and turns, the shouts of the audience. In long takes, we become spectators and silent witnesses to a performance in which death is certain at the end. In between, car journeys and hotel rooms. ›Afternoons of Solitude‹ balances between documentary and art film. And whether we perceive what we see as aesthetic or martial, or both, is up to us.
