IFFMH presents: ›Remake, Remix, Rip-Off‹
on August 25 at the Kinokult Open Air Cinema in Mannheim
In the 1960s and 1970s, Turkey was one of the world’s leading film producers and the cinema industry was booming. During this period, a trend emerged of producing remakes of European, American and Indian films, drawing on the originals in an unrestrained and highly creative manner. In this way, the so-called Yeşilçam cinema produced what were at times bizarre versions of major Hollywood blockbusters and adaptations of great works from film history. *Remake, Remix, Rip-off* is a journey through the cinema of that era – and the cinematic surprises that emerged as a result – that is as delightful as it is humorous.
