Culture in a +2°C society
Conference for cultural players in Mannheim plus short film programme
On 22 and 23 September, an important symposium will take place in Mannheim, focusing on the effects of climate change on the cultural sector. This is because the cultural sector in Germany is also increasingly affected by the consequences of climate change. Heat waves, heavy rainfall and flooding are already endangering people, buildings, art objects and events. The symposium Culture in the +2 Degree Society, which will take place on 22 and 23 September in Mannheim, will address the challenges for the climate resilience of cultural institutions. The event will present model adaptation concepts developed by 20 institutions in a pilot project of the German Federal Cultural Foundation, as well as other approaches and initiatives. How can cultural venues adapt while keeping the common good and monument protection in mind?
Special: In collaboration with the Environmental Dance Project and the Bangkok Film Festival, we are supplementing the programme with three outstanding short films at the Eintanzhaus in Mannheim. The films can be viewed with headphones throughout the evening, parallel to the conference.
The conference invites players from the fields of culture, art, monument preservation, politics and administration, as well as sponsors and foundations.
