Meet the Directors

It fills us with joy and pride that, year after year, established as well as emerging filmmakers from all continents travel to Mannheim and Heidelberg for our festival. This allows us to bring together the world of cinema and the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region in a very real way, facilitating international exchange, mutual understanding, and a truly horizon-broadening communal experience. However, not everyone may want to take part in the post-screening Q&As held in large cinemas. Moreover, these discussions are usually limited to individual guests, and you might miss some of the other guests altogether, or perhaps only catch a glimpse of them at our lounges. That’s why, for the first time this year, we’re hosting a public roundtable discussion with several of the attending international directors. In a smaller, more personal setting, you’ll have the chance to ask them any questions you have – or to simply listen. The discussion will be moderated by Marcel Lemmer.

Moderator Marcel Lemmer is a research associate at Karlshochschule International University, where he works on Future Democracies, a project focusing on statehood, civil society, and extremist movements. Alongside his academic work, he is the founder of the the Junge Demokratiestiftung (Young Democracy Foundation).
