Günter and Gisela are from different worlds. But when they meet for the first time, sparks fly and the class barriers between them begin to crumble.

Twenty-year-old Günter comes from a working-class family and earns his living at a foundry. His leisure time is devoted to swing music and his friends from the motorcycle club. Gisela, who is about the same age, is the daughter of a civil servant and mostly moves in artistic circles. Despite their different backgrounds, upon meeting the two are immediately drawn to each other. A future together seems possible. But Gisela’s parents consider the relationship beneath her standing. Gisela, however, is not about to simply accept this as a given.

An award-winning and remarkably prescient directorial debut by actor Bernhard Wicki, exploring the fundamental question of whether class divisions can be overcome.
