The road to finding ourselves sometimes leads through the most difficult crises. An authentic and life-affirming rehabilitation drama, featuring non-professionals with real-life experiences in the supporting roles.

A court has ordered Cody Parsons and his foster brother Jack to enter a state-run drug rehabilitation program. For the first time in a long while, they begin to feel a sense of hope. With the support of their tireless counselor, they embark on the difficult journey toward a better, drug-free future. Whether they can leave behind the demons of their past and break free of self-destructive habits, however, remains to be seen.

In his debut, the director Adam Meeks, who was born in Ohio, stays true to his home state. He delivers a drama at once realistic and tenderly intimate, portraying the daily triumphs and setbacks, the courage and strength of people fighting addiction. That is, fighting for sheer survival! Will Poulter and Noah Centineo shine in the lead roles.

Director

Adam Meeks’s debut feature, ›Union County‹, is based on his acclaimed 14-minute short film. Thanks to the Adult Recovery Project, he was able to work with participants of the addiction treatment program in Bellefontaine. Meeks, who graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, is also a screenwriter.
