›Apocalypse Now‹ meets ›Bambi‹: this animated mêlée of blood, guts and dayglow colours pits teddy bears and unicorns, of all things, against each other and really lets it rip.

Whoever drinks the blood of the last unicorn will attain eternal youth and beauty – that’s what the teddy bears believe, and it’s what has kept them in a centuries-long war with the unicorns. The irony of these circumstances plays out when the combat unit of ursine brothers Bluey and Tubby is sent on a special mission into the enchanted forest. In all seriousness, a violent battle with the unicorns ensues. In this situation, Bluey is constantly filled with an insatiable desire to prove to everyone that he is destined for greatness. Thus, a showdown between the opposing factions becomes as inevitable as a struggle between the brothers themselves. Yes, ›Unicorn Wars‹ is a story of fascism, the dark side of religion and the senselessness of violence in contrast to the poetic beauty of life and nature – but one that’s told in bright dayglow colours, somewhere between the cuteness of ›Hello Kitty‹ and the brutality of ›South Park‹. Absurdly funny.
