An alien in the guise of a seductive woman roams Scotland, robbing lonely men of their humanity. An existentialist sci-fi trip.

While Scarlett Johansson can be heard in ›Her‹ as the seductive voice of an AI, here she plays an alien who roams Glasgow, seducing men whom she subsequently kills and makes disappear in visually striking ways.

With ›Under the Skin‹, Jonathan Glazer cemented his reputation as a major, visionary director. Here he creates an intensely uncanny world of sound and images that draws us viewers under its spell, crafting a parable about human identity, the body, and sexual desire. To create a sense of authenticity, Glazer used a hidden camera to film his famous leading actress luring unsuspecting men into her van.

Director

Jonathan Glazer (*1965) began his career as an acclaimed director of music videos. His work, widely praised by critics, is characterized by a high degree of abstraction and compression, resulting in films that are intensely visceral sensory experiences. ›The Zone of Interest‹ (2023), starring Sandra Hüller, earned him the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film.
