A young father is brought face to face with the world of his upbringing. A warm-hearted tragicomedy full of humor about the possibility of forgiveness.

Karl and Emilie are celebrating the naming ceremony of their first son. Everything has been planned to perfection. The hotel on the Baltic Sea leaves nothing to be desired and the atmosphere is harmonious. But suddenly arrives Karl’s mother Vibeke (Trine Dyrholm), whom he hasn’t seen in years. While the agitated Karl argues with his sister about how to best deal with their mother, Vibeke awkwardly tries to step into the role of grandmother. As the weekend unfolds, tensions mount and old patterns of behavior begin to resurface. Eventually, the family is forced to confront the open wounds of the past.

Mads Mengel’s fierce debut is a raw yet tenderly told family drama about the possibility of forgiveness in spite of deep hurt.
