You think you know American college romcoms? Think again! In Cooper Raiff's directorial debut things happen quite differently than what we’re used to.

At his very first college party, the homesick Alex falls in love with the quick-witted and fun-loving Maggie. They spend most of the night engaging in intimate conversations about life. For all the rest, they still have plenty of time. But suddenly Maggie no longer wants anything to do with Alex... The multitalented Cooper Raiff not only wrote and directed this funny and romantic debut, he even took on the leading role. His appropriation of clichés and genre conventions is remarkably sophisticated, always entertaining, very direct, and in the right moments understated. Shithouse is so undeniably compelling and impressive, it was immediately awarded prizes on its first two festival appearances – in Florida and South by Southwest.

The director, only 23 years old, has already hit the bullseye with his debut.

Director

Following appearances in various short films, the young Dallas-born Cooper Raiff made his feature debut as an actor and director with Shithouse. In 2020, Shithouse won the Grand Jury Prize at both the South by Southwest Film Festival and the Florida Film Festival.
