Marlon Brando’s acting style impressed and influenced generations. In this drama by Elia Kazan, he demonstrates the full extent of his skills.

Terry Malloy (Brando) is a longshoreman working at the New Jersey docks. He finds himself at the bottom, the weakest link in the chain of a corrupt trade union system. The head of the pack is the ruthless Johnny Friendly (Lee J. Cobb), followed by Terry’s brother Charley (Rod Steiger). Following a death, Terry turns against the system, provoking drastic consequences for himself and everyone around him. ›On the Waterfront‹ was a sensation in 1954 and won eight Oscars. One of the Oscars went to Brando; like several of the actors assembled here, he learned his craft at the Actors Studio, which was co-founded by Kazan.
