In Gaspar Noé’s autobiographically tinged, sexually explicit 3-D flick called ›Love‹, desire and the fear of losing someone meet a love supreme.

Murphy is an American living in France who wants to make films reminiscent of those of Gaspar Noé, director of ›Enter the Void‹, ›Irreversible‹ and most recently ›Vortex‹. Told in reverse, ›Love‹ is the story of Murphy’s tragic involvement with Electra, who seems to have disappeared, and their exploration of sexuality as such, which includes a threesome with a young neighbour named Omi. Never before has Noé dealt with his own obsessions surrounding the male sex and its potency as openly as he does here. This is a sensual and sometimes surprisingly funny attempt, captured virtuosically by the camera, to find out how much phallus is present in 3-D.

Director

Director Gaspar Noé was born in Argentina. He grew up in France, where he now works. Following ›Irreversible‹ and ›Enter the Void‹, ›Love‹ confirmed his status as an enfant terrible of the industry. In 2021, he was a guest at IFFMH with ›Vortex‹, a meditation on dying.
