Life as a façade: in ›I Am Guilty‹, Christoph Hochhäusler delves deep into the psyche of the teenage Armin.

Armin babbles away during his job interview, quotes the brochure that he memorized and, with his disheveled blond hair, looks very much out of place in the recruiter's office. Even the question about his favorite color becomes an overwhelming challenge for the teenager. His parents treat their son’s success in the adult world as a project for the whole family. It’s only the thought of becoming a terrorist that offers Armin comfort.
In his second feature, and his first collaboration with producer Bettina Brokemper, Christoph Hochhäusler turns his attention towards a bleak society. In his oppressive character study, he tactfully presents the protagonist Armin as a spokesperson for a generation marked by a lack of hope and perspective.
