An extended family struggles for cohesion in this stirring multilayered portrait of Turkey.

Fatih, who lives in his parents’ home, has borrowed a large sum of money from a friend who now suddenly needs it back. This sets off a nerve-racking chain of events that involves Fatih’s extended family: How can the money be raised, at what cost and at whose expense? Like a spellbound observer, the camera follows the arguments that ensue in the most confined spaces. Nuances in the dialogue reveal more and more details while capturing the growing psychological and social stress the family is facing. Smouldering conflicts threaten to tear the family apart even as its members join together to search for a solution. What results is a complex portrait of Turkish society caught between conservatism and modernity, extended family and individualism.
