Senior managers in moral conflict: painfully accurate and penetrating observation of an inhumane system.

Philippe loves his job as a factory manager. And for a long time he has also been loved: by the employees, by the national-level management, and by his family. But his marriage is crumbling and the impending separation is only the first crack in Philippe's world. When he is asked to enforce a second round of layoffs within a short time, he gets caught between the fronts. Even more crucially, he threatens to lose himself. With his latest film, director Stéphane Brizé completes a loose trilogy about the moral plight of modern industrial France. Once again, lead actor Vincent Lindon lends him his entire physicality. Through its precise analysis of mechanisms, management rhetoric and market logic, Brizé's social drama, conceived together with co-writer Olivier Gorce, is reminiscent of the collaborations between Christian Petzold and Harun Farocki.
