One of the most timeless love stories ever told: Anouk Aimée and Jean-Louis Trintignant on a cautious quest for new love.

One rainy Sunday, the widowed racing driver Jean-Louis brings his son back to boarding school in Deauville. For Anne, who also lost her spouse and whose daughter goes to the same boarding school, this is the perfect ride back to Paris. Both are attracted to each other without knowing if they are ready to love anew.
With a peerless touch, Lelouch combines real locations and studio sets; choreographed and improvised scenes; color and black and white; dialogs, silences and the music of Francis Lai. He thus achieved one of the greatest surprise successes in film history – after winning the top prize at Cannes, the film also received two Golden Globes and two Oscars.
