Dea Kolumbegashvili
Dea Kolumbegashvili is a Georgian director and screenwriter. Her first feature, ›Beginning‹ (2020), caused a sensation internationally, winning the top prize at the San Sebastián Film Festival as well as the FIPRESCI Award in Toronto. Her follow-up film ›April‹ (2024) received the Special Jury Prize in Venice and screened at the IFFMH as a Centre Piece. With this masterpiece, she cemented her status as one of the most important voices in contemporary cinema. In her home country, ruled by an authoritarian government, the film was banned, and she is no longer granted filming permits there. She is currently developing her next project in Berlin.
