FIPRESCI Award

With this award for an outstanding film in the competition ON THE RISE, the jury combines the goal of promoting cinematic art and encouraging new and young cinema.

The jury of the Fédération Internationale de la Presse Cinématographique (International Federation of Film Critics/ FIPRESCI) consists of three international film critics. The FIPRESCI has been represented at the film festival in Mannheim (today Mannheim-Heidelberg) since 1960. The IFFMH is one of the first film festivals in the world to have a jury of film critics.

Beat Glur

Beat Glur lives and works in Bern, Switzerland. He writes for daily newspapers and magazines on film, classical music and literature. For 16 years, he headed the culture desk at the Swiss news agency SDA. He was a member of the culture committee of the copyright organisation Suissimage, the Swiss Film Commission and the selection committees of the film festivals in Locarno, Berlin and Rotterdam. For ten years he was president of the Swiss Film Critics’ Association; since then he has been its managing director. He is a member of the Swiss and European Film Academies and sits on the board of the International Federation of Film Critics (Fipresci).

Yael Shuv

Yael Shuv has served as chief film critic for Time Out Tel Aviv since the publication’s inaugural issue in 2002. She holds a master’s degree in Cinema Studies from New York University and teaches film courses at the Open University of Israel. She has served as an artistic advisor to the Israeli Film Fund and is currently a member of the board of the Israeli Academy of Film and Television. Internationally, Yael has served as a FIPRESCI juror at major film festivals, including Locarno, Venice, Karlovy Vary, Palm Springs, and Rotterdam. She is also a Golden Globe voter. Yael is the author of two books for children and young adults, "The Ice Cream Princess" and "The Enchanted Carousel".

Rudolf Worschech

Rudolf Worschech. Studied German, Slavic Studies and Theatre, Film and Television Studies. From 1986 to 1995, research assistant at the German Film Museum in Frankfurt: exhibitions, restorations, film series. Catalogues and publications, including on German cinema. Joined the editorial team of the journal epd Film in 1987, serving as its editor-in-chief from 2002 to 2023. Member of juries and selection committees.
