Rwanda, 2012. During the community-led trials that followed the genocide against the Tutsi, one survivor fighting for reconciliation is forced to confront the limits of her own convictions.

In the aftermath of the genocide against the Tutsi, community-led trials intended to facilitate reconciliation are held across Rwanda in 2012. Vénéranda, herself a victim and survivor, passionately advocates for dialogue between victims and perpetrators. But is it really possible to forgive those who brutally tortured you or murdered your entire family? When Vénéranda learns that her own daughter is unexpectedly pregnant, she is forced to confront the limits of her own capacity for forgiveness.

An arresting political drama from a still-young Rwandan cinema that is developing its own ways of telling the country’s history.
