  • WHEN DOES THE IFFMH TAKE PLACE?

    The 69th edition of the International Film Festival Mannheim-Heidelberg will take place from November 12 to November 22, 2020.

    Cinemas across Germany will close on November 2. The streaming offer on the online platform expanded.iffmh.de will therefore be extended across the Festival’s entire 11 days, from November 12 to November 22, and the number of available tickets will be increased.

  • WHERE DOES THE FESTIVAL TAKE PLACE?

    From November 12 to November 22, 2020 the IFFMH will take place online.

    For our online offer IFFMH EXPANDED we work together with Festival Scope and Shift72.

  • WHAT IS AN ONLINE EXTENSION?

    For the first time, the International Film Festival Mannheim-Heidelberg will offer a representative selection of its programme for streaming across Germany from November 12 to November 22, 2020.

    Tickets (single ticket price: 8 euros) can be purchased since October 28.

  • KANN JEDER FILM AUS DEM PROGRAMM DES 69. IFFMH GESTREAMT WERDEN?

    IFFMH EXPANDED includes a representative selection of this year’s programme, but not every film can be streamed at home.

Using IFFMH EXPANDED

  • HOW CAN I WATCH A FILM?

    Simply click on the "Create account" button on expanded.iffmh.de and create an account with your personal password (free of charge).

    You will receive a confirmation of your account by e-mail. After clicking on the confirmation link in the email, you can then log in to access the films.

    When you click on a film, a window appears with: "Leihen".
    Here you can rent a film directly by entering your credit card number.

    If you have a voucher code, you also have to use it in this window.

  • FROM WHEN CAN I WATCH A FILM?

    The vast majority of films can be watched starting on 12 November 2020 at 00.01 AM.

    There are a few films with different time slots. Those are indicated for each film.

  • HOW CAN I PAY?

    Select the film or Expanded Set you want to watch and click on the "Leihen" button.

    To use the programme, create an account with a personal password on expanded.iffmh.de.

    You will receive a confirmation of your account by e-mail. After clicking on the confirmation link in the email, you can then log in to access the films.

    Pay directly online with credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Amex) via the secure and certified payment system.

  • I DO NOT HAVE A CREDIT CARD, CAN I STILL WATCH FILMS?

    Yes, you can also pay for films via PayPal. Please send your film request by mail to tickets@iffmh.de.

    As soon as we have received the payment, we will send you your voucher code within 24 hours, with which you can then rent the film.

    If you are in a particular hurry, you can call us daily from 10 AM to 6 PM and starting on 12 November from 10 AM to 11 PM at +49 (0)621 - 489 262 20.

  • CAN I PURCHASE FILMS IN ADVANCE?

    Yes, you can buy all films in advance from 28 October 2020. When you rent films on this website, they will automatically be stored in your library and will be available for viewing from their start date until the end of the specified rental period.

  • DOES IT COST ANYTHING TO CREATE AN ACCOUNT ON EXPANDED.IFFMH.DE?

    No, the creation of the account is free of charge.

  • CAN I WATCH A FILM WITHOUT CREATING AN ACCOUNT?

    No, please create a free account.

  • I ALREADY HAVE A "FESTIVAL-SCOPE" ACCOUNT. CAN I USE IFFMH EXPANDED FOR THIS?

    Unfortunately no. For the "IFFMH EXPANDED" platform you need an additional account.

    You can create one on the homepage at expanded.iffmh.de. Just click on the button "Konto anlegen".

  • DO I HAVE TO WATCH THE FILM IMMEDIATELY AFTER BUYING IT?

    After the purchase the film is available in your library. Once the film has been started for the first time, there is a 30 hour time frame during which it can be watched.

    So you don't have to watch the film right after buying it.

    Please note that the film is only available until the end of the festival (November 22 at 11.59 PM). At this time the 30 hour time frame will also expire.

    Important note: Some films are only available for a limited time. Therefore, it is possible that films may be sold out or no longer available for rental before the end of the festival. Please note the respective loan periods.

  • WHAT HAPPENS IF I RENT A FILM SHORTLY BEFORE THE END OF THE FESTIVAL - CAN I STILL WATCH IT FOR 30 HOURS?

    A film is available in your library from its respective start date until the end of the designated loan period.

    Those will end at different times depending on the film, but at the latest on 22 November at 11.59 PM.

    After that, no further films can be accessed. This also applies if you have not yet reached 30 hours.

  • I HAD TO PAUSE THE FILM. CAN I CONTINUE WATCHING IT ANOTHER DAY?

    After the first start, the film is available for a period of 30 hours. If you interrupt or pause the film, you can continue watching it at any time within the time window.

    Please note that a film is only available in your library from its respective start date until the end of its respective loan period. At the end of the loan period the 30-hour time window expires. This also applies if you have not yet reached the 30 hour window.

  • HOW LONG IS A FILM AVAILABLE?

    The films are generally available throughout the entire period of the festival from 12 to 22 November. After buying and starting the selected film you can stream it for 30 hours.

    On November 22 at 11:59 PM, the offer will expire and the 30 hour time frame will be cancelled, even if you have not yet reached the 30 hours.

    Please note that some films are limited to a certain number of purchases or are only available for a limited time.

    The rental period will be displayed with each film. So it is possible that films are sold out or no longer available before the end of the festival.

  • CAN I DOWNLOAD THE FILM AND WATCH IT LATER?

    No, you can only watch the film as a stream and not download it.

  • CAN I WATCH THE FILM OUTSIDE GERMANY?

    No, you can only stream the film within Germany.

  • IS THE NUMBER OF FILMS I CAN PURCHASE LIMITED?

    You can stream as many films as you like.

    However, some films are only available to a limited extent. This means that a film may be sold out, for example if it has been rented or seen 400 times. But as long as this number is not reached, you can rent and watch as many films as you like.

  • WHY IS MY NAME SHOWN DURING THE FILM?

    This is a legally required copy protection measure of the system and cannot be deactivated. The films presented at IFFMH EXPANDED have mostly just had their world premieres, so this step is essential.

  • WHY DO I NOT SEE ANY SUBTITLES, ALTHOUGH ACCORDING TO THE FILM PAGE THEY SHOULD BE OFFERED?

    Depending on the film, the subtitles are either automatically displayed with the film or must be switched on manually. If no subtitles are displayed, but you need subtitles, you can click on the "cc" symbol in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen when watching a film. There you will then see a selection of subtitles that you can choose from. Please note that only English subtitles may be available. CITY HALL is shown without subtitles.

  • CAN I SELECT OR CHANGE SUBTITLES?

    Yes, if you are watching a film, you can click on the "cc" symbol at the bottom right. There you will see a selection of subtitles that you can choose.

  • THE FESTIVAL IS OVER, BUT I HAVE NOT YET WATCHED ALL THE FILMS I HAVE RENTED. WHAT NOW?

    Unfortunately there is no possibility to watch the films after the end of the festival. On November 22, 2020 at 11.59 PM the offer will expire and also the 30-hour time slot will automatically end on November 22 at 11.59 PM, even if you have not yet reached the 30 hours.

  • WHAT ARE THE SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS?

    You can watch on PCs running Windows 7+, and Intel-based Macs running OSX 10.12+. You can also watch on Android tablets and phones using Chrome and on iPhones and iPads using Safari. You will need a broadband or fibre internet connection - dial up will not work. You’ll find a complete list of requirements below.

  • WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR WINDOWS COMPUTERS?

    Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10. Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer or Opera. We recommend using the latest version of your browser as earlier versions may not be supported. Internet Explorer on Windows 7 is no longer supported. You will need a broadband or fibre internet connection - dial up will not work.

  • WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR MAC COMPUTERS?

    Mac OSX 10.12 or later. Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Opera. We recommend using the latest version of your browser as earlier versions may not be supported. You will need a broadband or fibre internet connection - dial up will not work.

  • CAN I WATCH CONTENT ON MY IPHONE/IPAD?

    Yes, you can watch content using Safari and this requires iOS 11.2 or later. We recommend using the latest version of your browser as earlier versions may not be supported.

  • CAN I WATCH CONTENT ON MY ANDROID DEVICE?

    Yes, you can watch content using Chrome and this requires Android 6.0 or later. We recommend using the latest version of your browser as earlier versions may not be supported.

  • I CAN’T STREAM ANY OF THE CONTENT, WHAT’S GOING ON?

    Check your minimum system requirements above. We recommend that you update to the latest version of your browser. We use adaptive bitrate streaming which means the streaming quality will automatically adjust based on your internet speed. For High Definition (HD) streaming we recommend VDSL, cable or fibre connections as we cannot guarantee consistent HD streaming on ADSL.

  • WHAT HAPPENS IF I FORGET MY PASSWORD?

    Simply click Forgot your password on the Sign In page, enter the email address you used when you created an account and a link to reset your password will be sent to you. Make sure to also check your spam folder if you run into any trouble.

  • WHY DOES VIDEO PLAYBACK STALL OR NOT PLAY SMOOTHLY?

    If your internet connection is poor or inconsistent you may experience problems during playback. Try lowering the playback bitrate.

  • CAN I CHROMECAST CONTENT?

    You can Chromecast from a Chrome web browser on PC and Mac computers as well as Android devices.

  • I HAVE RENTED A FILM, BUT THE SCREENING DOES NOT START. WHAT CAN I DO?

    Please update your browser, the film should start now.
