Vegan vampires are a thing. Based on a popular series of Swedish children’s books, this film offers a spirited mixture of spookiness and refreshing humour.

With the undead doing some baking and pubescent ghosts and vampires taking iron pills instead of drinking human blood, the world of ›Nelly Rapp‹ is quirky and tongue-in-cheek. Fond of effects and plot twists, this film turns familiar fairy-tale figures into characters that you have never seen before. Ten-year-old Nelly’s job is to hunt down all kinds of monsters as a budding secret agent. At her uncle Hannibal’s lavish country estate, she finally feels at home amid the dust and cobwebs. But is it really true what they say about monsters? Nelly takes a closer look, because she knows that real friendship is based on acceptance. This rousing mixture of fantasy and culture-clash comedy was nominated in various categories at the 2020 Sweden Film Awards and received several awards there.
