The 1st Film TEEP opens doors and creates opportunities – Mannheim Meeting Place hosts the follow-up 1st Film TEEP  during IFF Mannheim Heidelberg 2013

Mannheim Meeting Place (Nov4th-7th2013), the professional sector of IFF Mannheim Heidelberg (Oct.31st –Nov 10thhas given support to the 1st Film TEEP and will host the second and final phase of their 2013 workshop (which held its first session in early May in Bucharest) in Mannheim this 1st to 4th November.

The 1st Film TEEP is a co-production training programme that has been formed:

  • to help participants from the region improve the creative content and international potential of their feature projects
  • to enable an international framework for the development of such projects by setting up and nurturing a professional network especially for the East European region
  • to encourage audiovisual collaboration between both EU and non-EU member states

In 2013, 13 projects participate in writer/director and producer teams from 10 EU and non-EU member countries: Romania, USA, Georgia, Turkey, Greece, Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria, the Russian Federation, and Italy.

Mannheim Meeting Place is the co-production forum at IFF Mannheim Heidelberg specialized in helping first or second feature lead producers with artistic ambition.

“Co-production event networking is becoming more and more relevant with the continuing decrease in public funding and increase of venues. When you have three or four events in the same week, as now happens more and more often, and two of them are complementary, then it makes perfect sense to co-operate rather than to ignore or cannibalize” – thus Julek Kedzierski, Coordinator of MMP.

“On the other hand,” continues Ruxandra Cernat, organizer of 1st Film TEEP, “public support plans are often rigidly set, thus hobbling shorter-term initiatives that could then founder for lack of completed financing. In this case 1st Film TEEP found a home with MMP 2013 to finish their project.”

Indeed, relevant 1st Film TEEP members will have a chance to join as participants at MMP - due November 4th to 7th - and, if successful, will automatically be prolonging their stay in Mannheim to cover both events. Likewise, 1st Film TEEP participants also have a chance to be chosen for the When East Meets West at IFF Trieste in January 2014.
