The International Filmfestival Mannheim-Heidelberg is one of the world’s most important film festivals for discovery of international talents in filmmaking. We cordially invite you to discover the best international newcomer films of the year. 34 premieres from 24 countries, many new talented directors and a selection of films exclusive in terms of quality is waiting for you. The range of topics and forms is colourful as usual among newcomers: there are political thrillers and small con stories, tough relationship dramas and tender love stories. Brave stories that authentically and straightforwardly reflect the director’s inner and outer world. They are seldom funny. Like the time of comedies is maybe over.

The films are shown in original language with English subtitles (which are very easy to read). Alternatively you can borrow a headset for the Competition Films at the cinemas of Stadthaus N1 and Studio Europa. The headsets are free, please show you ID card. Dialogs are translated into German.
