02 February 2012: From 13th to 16th November 2012 the 3rd MANNHEIM MEETING PLACE will take place for film professionals from all over the world as an integral part of  the International Film Festival MANNHEIM-HEIDELBERG (8th to 18th November 2012). Submissions for co-production are open. Projects are welcome for world-wide matching – whether from Columbia to Norway, Germany to South Korea, Uruguay to South Africa or Bulgaria to Cyprus...Read more

15 November 2011: In a common development of cultural westernisation the new member states of Europe have opened up to Hollywood productions as well as big budget comedies. Poland, however, proves the legitimacy of traditional film making in the style of Roman Polanski, Andzej Wajda or Krzysztof Kieślowskis in the aesthetic spectrum of forms with its outstanding contributions to the festival. 15 November 2011: Award for the patron saint of independent film - Festival Director Dr. Michael Kötz is awarded with Ecumenical Honorary Award.


14 November 2011: There is a boom of Argentinian cinema at our festival: we present as many as four films from the South American country in our program, three of them in the International Competition. Read more

12 November 2011: All of Iceland has about as many inhabitants as Heidelberg and Mannheim together. Many films cannot be produced simply because of sheer lack of mass, but if it happens, the outcome is always something really great. The Icelandic entry for International Competition “Okkar Eigin Oslo”, which celebrated the official opening of the 60th Film Festival yesterday, is a perfect example of this. Read more
