For the best film with a minimum length of 60 minutes.


Josef-von-Sternberg Award
For the best unconventionally narrated feature film.


Award of the Lord Mayor of Mannheim
For the best film with a minimum length of 45 minutes, characterised by sociopolitical commitment.  


Special prize of the International Jury
For the best Film with a minimum length of 40 minutes. Or for an exraordinary performance as actor, screenwriter, director etc


Special Mention of the International Jury 
For a remarkable film with outstanding acting, photography, music, etc.


Film Ducat
Film Ducats were awarded from 1958 - 1989 for the best film in five different categories, issued by the International Jury.


Special Award for the Best Television Film
Awarded by the International Jury.


Main Award of the Jury Newcomer Film Countries 
Prize for all feature-, documentary- and short films from Third World Countries, issued by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation. The awarded Films should establish understanding for a tolerant, peaceful coexistence and a cooperative partnership, as well as raising awareness for the problems in the countries of origin.  


The International Film Critic's Prize
The FIPRESCI-Jury award their prize.


Interfilm Award
Issued by the INTERFILM-Jury of the International Protestant Work Group Film. 


Catholic Film Prize
 
Prize for the best film, issued by the Jury of the Catholic Work Group Film.


Recommendation of the Adult Education Centre
